As one of the second oldest private school in the country, Deerfield is committed to maintaining academic excellence in all fields. Located in western Massachusetts, Deerfield is known for educating some of the most influential people in US history. Seminar style teaching deepens students learning along with student rituals, such as senior mediation. Deerfield's often has distinguished speakers come to educate the students outside of regular faculty. Deerfield has won multiple New England Championships in athletics in lacrosse, swimming, track, tennis, water polo, alpine skiing, rowing teams, and squash. Deerfield’s dorms mix tradition with technology and focus on interpersonal connections to make it feel like home. Deerfield Academy is located in western Massachusetts, 30 miles north of Springfield and 5 miles south of Greenfield.
