Chaminade College Preparatory School

St. Louis, Missouri | High School , 6-12 , All-boys | Founded in 1910

Description

Chaminade is a day and boarding school for young men grades 6 -12. Located in Saint Louis, Missouri, Chaminade features a close-knit community. Chaminade’s motto is “Be a Man”. They want to help young men on the journey to manhood develop lifelong skills and knowledge. All curriculum is centered around how young men learn. Campus features a Ministry for students to practice their faith. Faith is important at Chaminade, students are encouraged to involve faith in their journey at Chaminade and beyond.

Chaminade offers a PACE, Pathway to Access College Early, program. This program offers dual enrollment for students. Dedicated students can earn up to 60 hours of college credit. That is about two years worth of college credits. This program helps students find their passion early on, so they can start learning the key concepts early. PACE gives students a head start once they get to college. Along with the PACE program, Chaminade offers academic support. The Academic Lab is like a study hall. Students are paired up with someone with a similar schedule and expected to use the time productively. There are many other programs in place to ensure students’ success like the Math Lab and the After School Academic Program (ASAP).

Signature Programs

- Chaminade Champions Program: Provides financial support to Chaminade's four signature events while providing marketing visibility for your business or recognition for your personal gift. These events make a significant contribution to the education of our students as well as provide social opportunities which enhance the Family Spirit among the Chaminade community.

- Global Reach Program: Provides each student with the opportunities not just to learn about the world, but the chance to explore it. Each year, every grade level will participate in Experiential Education curriculum which takes learning beyond the classroom – hiking the Grand Tetons, exploring the Tower of London, and retracing the Underground Railroad.

- Chaminade College Preparatory Program: Designed to help prepare students for the new challenges of living and working in the global society of the 21st century. Chaminade has had exchange programs in place since the 1990s, and we continue to search for new possibilities to increase the global awareness of our students.

- Freshman Trip: The freshman class spends 2 ½ days at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory’s School of Ocean Science and Technology, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. This program is sponsored/overseen by the University of Southern Mississippi. Coastal Science Camp provides participants with hands-on and field experience focused on dynamic coastal habitats, marine plants and animals, and current research at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory

- Sophomore Trip: The Road to Freedom trip gives sophomores the opportunity to experience the struggle for freedom and justice as they travel to Nashville and then on to Memphis, TN to visit a number of sites associated with the American Civil War and our struggle for civil rights. While on the trip, stops are made at many historic sites including the Carter House (site of the Battle of Franklin), the National Civil Rights Museum, the Carnton Plantation, Battle of Franklin battlefield and cemetery, Slave Haven and the Mason Temple, Church of God in Christ.

- Campus Ministry’s Retreat Program: We grow and develop in our own faith as we relate with others: sharing our faith with them and hearing from them about their faith. Beginning his freshman year, a Chaminade student may serve as a retreat leader; each retreat at Chaminade involves students as leaders in some capacity. Most retreats at Chaminade are all held at off-campus sites in the St. Louis area. The middle school and freshman retreats are all the length of a school day and students are assigned by either Mentor Group or House.

- Pathway to Access College Early (PACE) Program: A premier option to earn college credit through enrollment in Advanced College Credit high school courses from nationally accredited university programs, an opportunity to experience an introduction to college-level expectations while in high school taught by authorized Chaminade Adjunct University Instructors for our partner universities, and an opportunity to engage in a robust and rigorous university course experience through challenging college-level curriculum while in high school.
